Reminder for Day of Arafat : islam

I know many others have posted information but this is just a reminder not to waste or let the 9th of Dhul Hijjah pass without making an effort. Hajj might be only a reality for a very few, but the mercy of Allah(swt) is vast enough that it blankets us all.

We find the following narration highlighting the importance of the 9th:

Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of ‘Arafah. He said, “It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.”

Last years sins and this years sins are forgiven. Think about it, if we keep fasting every 9th with the hope of Allah(swt)’s mercy, we wont’ have many sins in our account.

A few things to keep in mind in preparation:

  1. Make plans to fast the 9th

  2. Cut out any sin today in preparation and make a firm intention to not sin again.

  3. Treat the 9th as if you’re there on the plains of Arafat. The same concern for our lives and our sins should be poured into a day of constant dua and repentance.

  4. Be as generous as possible in any shape or form that we can.

  5. Be patient with those around us, especially if we want patience from Allah(swt). Don’t ruin our fasts and our repentance by lashing out or saying things to others we shouldn’t.

  6. Perform all the 5 prayers and read Quran if possible.

  7. Keep making dua throughout the day. Think of all the sins that we have and beg Allah(swt) constantly. If you can, set a dua break throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be long, a minute or two, but take that time to just sit and beg.

May Allah(Swt) accept our repentance and good deeds on these blessed days. Ameen.
