Debdulal Rakshit, brother of Nandadulal Rakshit, a suspended sub-inspector of Teknaf Police Station and accused in Sinha murder case, submitted the petition to the HC on September 8, seeking its directive on information and home secretaries to take necessary measures to this effect.
Debdulal in his petition prayed to the HC to issue a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why circulation and disclosing of information to the media in relation to the investigation into the case should not be declared illegal.
Citing the petition, Debdulal’s lawyer Ahsan Ullah told The Daily Star there is no allegation against Nandadulal Rakshit in the first information report (FIR) in the murder case, but he has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The lawyer said family members of Nandadulal want a fair investigation and justice.
Ahsan Ullah said the writ petition was placed before the HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder yesterday for its hearing.
During the hearing yesterday, Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar sought time from the HC, saying that the attorney general will place arguments on the petition.
The HC bench set September 13 for further hearing on the petition, Ahsan Ullah added.
