HC asks drug admin to ensure supply of Delipid 300mg in market

The High Court today ordered the directorate of drug administration to take steps ensuring an adequate supply of life-saving medicine Delipid 300mg in the markets.

The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain why they should not be directed to ensure supply of all lifesaving drugs in the market.

The HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder came up with the order and rule following a writ petition filed by Gazi Sirajul Islam, a Supreme Court lawyer, seeking necessary directives to this effect.

Petitioner’s lawyer Parvin Aktar told The Daily Star that her client Gazi Sirajul Islam earlier could not find Delipid 300mg, a drug for kidney and diabetes, in market.

Gazi Sirajul Islam then sent a legal notice to the directorate of drug administration to ensure supply of the drug in the market, but the directorate has not made any response to the legal notice.
