BSF allegedly tortured 2 Bangladeshis at Chuadanga border

Two Bangladeshis were allegedly injured by BSF at the border of Chuadanga on Friday night. Of them one had severe injuries from a bayonet, said a doctor at the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Locals found the two injured — Kadam Ali alias Kadma and Babu alias Kalu — near number-81 pillar at Damurhuda upazila at Thakurpur border in the district yesterday night, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

They immediately informed the BGB camp at Thakurpur of the matter. A team went to the spot and rescued the two, said Chuadanga-6 BGB director Mohammad Khalequzzaman.

Of the two, Kadam Ali, who was critically injured with a bayonet, was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Three bayonet wounds were found on Kadam’s back, there was a wound on his right elbow and a wound on his right leg, said duty doctor of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital Mahabubur Rahman. Kadam was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital this morning.

Meanwhile, the other injured — Babu — was first taken to the BGB camp for questioning where he admitted their link to cattle smuggling but did not say how they were injured, said Chuadanga-6 BGB director Mohammad Khalequzzaman.

An accomplice of the two, Rabed Ali, said the two were caught by BSF members on their way to India around 9pm on Friday. He further said, BSF severely beat Kadam and Babu and then left them on the spot.
