The arrestees are: Md Shahab Uddin (28), Arman Hossain (27), Md Nurul Alam (38), and Lokman Hakim (34).
A case was filed in this connection yesterday morning by the victim’s mother with Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station against the four arrestees, said Sheikh Munir-ul-Gias, officer-in-charge of the station.
On Thursday evening, a Rab team conducted drives in Kasturaghat and Khurushkul areas of Cox’s Bazar district town and arrested the four and rescued the girl, said Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, assistant director (media) and senior assistant superintendent of police of Rab-7 in a press statement.
On October 13, the victim’s mother lodged a written complaint with Rab-7 office in Chattogram alleging that Md Shahab Uddin (28) and three cohorts had abducted her daughter on September 1 and held her hostage at a remote location for one and a half months, during which time they raped her repeatedly, the complaint read.
Rab officials then looked into the matter and upon finding truth in the allegation, they launched an investigation to trace the accused, and came to know that they were located in Cox’s Bazar, according to the statement.
The elite force team then conducted a 36-hour long drive to nab the culprits, the statement said, adding that they confessed to the crimes in primary interrogation.
The arrestees were handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station in the case filed in this connection, the statement added.
The victim has been admitted to a one-stop crisis centre for medical tests and treatment, OC Munir added.
